Ilmari Mäenpää from Kiiminki is courageous in his own musical style, according to which art music need not be virtuosic and complex to be inspiring. It is an achievement to be able to attract new audiences to modern music. The concert arranged by The Kiiminki Music Association and The Kiiminkijoki School was almost sold out. It is breathtaking to hear beautiful ideas after another in Ilmari Mäenpää's music. Modern listener may sometimes find it hard to find a sense of unity in the greater whole.
